Why teams in India are moving now

Five shifts are turning energy planning into board-level work.

Each one lands the same question on someone's desk: which combination of technologies, contracts and phasing works for this site? Answering that question rigorously is what Sympheny does.

Open access has crossed 30 GW

Captive, group captive or third-party PPA, with or without storage: the structure you pick binds your cost base for a decade. Sympheny compares every route on your own hourly load data, so the decision rests on numbers rather than vendor decks.

Diesel backup is a decision, not a default

India logs hundreds of millions of consumer outage hours a year by CEA count. Sizing solar, storage and grid supply together turns backup power from a standing diesel bill into a costed energy-security investment.

BRSR has put decarbonisation on the board agenda

SEBI's reporting framework now reaches the top 1,000 listed companies, with value-chain disclosures phasing in. A credible transition pathway needs modelling behind it, and the same model should carry the procurement case.

The Green Hydrogen Mission is funding first movers

₹19,744 crore of national support to FY30 and a 5 MMTPA production target mean real industrial projects, each needing electrolysers, renewables and storage designed as one system. That is the problem Sympheny was built for.

Cooling is becoming district-scale infrastructure

From GIFT City's district cooling system to smart-city and campus projects, India is starting to plan cooling the way Europe plans heat: as shared infrastructure with shared economics. Sympheny's multi-energy hub core was made for this scale.

Core advantages

A rigorous optimisation engine wrapped in a practical planning platform.

Sympheny covers the whole planning job in one place: build a digital twin of the site, run the optimisation, compare scenarios, and hand decision-makers a result they can act on.

Multi-energy by design

One model for all energy carriers

Model electricity, heat, cooling, gas, hydrogen, storage and mobility together, instead of as separate studies that never quite line up. Sector-coupling options and infrastructure constraints sit side by side, so you compare them on the same footing.

  • Multiple conversion technologies per hub
  • Storage modelled inside the same optimisation
  • Add custom technologies from your own assumptions
Sympheny technology candidates: a list of conversion technologies (Solar PV, Air-to-water HP, Gas Boiler) and storage technologies (Li-ion Battery, Generic Hot Water Storage) with their input/output energy modes, hub, stage and lifetime
Conversion technologies and storage candidates configured in one project — heat, electricity and solar carriers shown together.
Digital twin for planning

Plan at district scale.

Pull asset catalogues, hourly demand profiles, tariffs, GIS layers and meter data into a single model you can reuse. Go from one building to a 78-district city without rebuilding from scratch.

  • GIS context for every building and hub
  • Hourly demand and tariff profiles in one place
  • Reusable across feasibility, planning and tendering

Decision-ready outputs

Outputs your stakeholders can actually read

Hourly demand profiles, load-duration curves, Sankey energy flows and Pareto cost/CO₂ comparisons — all generated from the same model and viewable directly in the app. Print to share, no rebuilding charts in slide decks.

  • Hourly resolution across a full reference year
  • Peak-shaving and storage-sizing visible at a glance
  • Stakeholder-ready exports without manual rework

Time to value

A short ramp-up to powerful, flexible energy modelling.

Sympheny gives expert users the flexibility of advanced energy system optimisation without a long implementation burden. For users with prior experience in optimisation or energy-system modelling, the platform can usually be understood in less than a week. Once workflows are established, many studies can be set up in around 30 minutes.

Deep analysis for engineers. Everyday utility for the whole team.

Sympheny is built for the engineer who needs full analytical depth — and designed so project managers, decision-makers, and wider team members can review models, interrogate scenarios, and act on outputs without needing deep technical training. Onboarding a new team member takes about an hour.

Time savings vary by project complexity, input data quality, and team experience. Examples reflect common workflows after the relevant setup is in place.

How Sympheny works at a glance

From building-level site data to a complete multi-energy concept.

Start from real GIS and building data. Optimise across electricity, heat, gas, solar and storage together. Hand stakeholders a Sankey energy flow and a structured report when you're done.

For Professional Teams

Built for the teams shaping India's energy decisions

Consultants who answer to clients, energy managers who answer to boards, developers who answer to investors, ESCOs who answer to a savings guarantee. Different rooms, same need: scenarios that hold up when someone pushes back.

Consultants & EPC Firms

Energy consultants, EPC and design firms

Clients now ask for captive solar, storage, open access and cooling compared in one defensible study. Sympheny builds the scenarios, so your engineers spend their hours on the judgement clients pay for.

C&I Energy Managers

Manufacturing, data centres and commercial estates

Captive, group captive, third-party PPA, or stay on the DISCOM tariff with diesel backup. Compare every route on your own load data before the next procurement window, not after.

Developers, Campuses & Townships

Real estate, smart cities, IT parks and campuses

District cooling or unit-level ACs, how much rooftop solar, which phase builds first. Weigh the whole-site energy concept while the master plan is still cheap to change.

ESCOs & Energy Service Providers

BEE-empanelled ESCOs and performance contractors

A guaranteed-savings contract is only as good as the baseline behind it. Model the site, stress-test the savings range, and price the guarantee with open eyes.

How Sympheny is different

Rigour, usability, and proof in the same platform.

A concept only holds up if three things are true at once: the maths is sound, engineers will actually use the tool, and the output survives the meeting where a client picks it apart. That's the bar we built Sympheny to clear.

Rigorous calculations, easier setup

Calculations run on a deterministic MILP engine. It's pure maths, there is no AI used for optimisation. Clustering is statistical, ML demand forecasting is opt-in.

Multi-energy by design

Every scenario is compared on the same cost and CO₂ basis, with sensitivity analysis built in. When a client picks the concept apart, the assumptions hold up.

Proven in the field

Commercially deployed since 2020, with 70+ customers and real-world references across districts, campuses, utilities, industrial sites and policy scenarios. Delivered in India with our optimisation partner ORMAE, Bengaluru.

"Sympheny supports our strategic energy planning in an ideal way. The flexibility is extremely convincing and the sensitivity analysis provides security in finding solutions."
